Podcast Updates

This past week I had a couple of fun interviews.  I was excited to continue my series of interviews with FATE Core game developers with the internationally renowned game designer and author Ryan M. Danks

He was here to talk about his best-selling FATE Core system games, Jadepunk and Shadowcraft, along with some of his other prose work.

Then on Thursday, my good friend and highly renowned Vermont Children’s Fiction Author, J L Durona came on to talk about his latest book: The Berge Sisters Tour the Neitherswarth.  I always enjoy chatting about the creative process with Jesse.  His imagination is boundless.

Project Updates

The week consisted of more plugging away on ‘Appliance’. As I was walking to work, I was inspired by some of my other games and how the characters in the game needed to follow along some Code of Honor, so in the realm and theme of inanimate objects I decided to call the Appliance version of a Code of Honor, the ‘Instruction Manual.  Next to that is how different Object families interpret the Instruction Manual as it is subjective on how it is enforced.

What I’m reading

Due to more time being spent at work and on projects, I had limited time to read anything larger than a children's book, but I did really enjoy Aaron Blabey’s book, ‘The Return of Thelma the Unicorn’.  The benefit of having elementary school-age kids is that I get to discover a whole new generation of children’s book authors.  Aaron Blabey is one of those authors.

I really enjoyed ‘The Return of Thelma the Unicorn.’ It read like a poem and the illustrations were entertaining for kids and fun to look at for adults as there were enough visual jokes and references that gave me a chuckle.

This seems to be the secret sauce of a successful children’s book, give it a good rhythm and fun illustrations.

Personal Updates

We are starting to get some chilly nights now, which I personally do not mind as it is much easier to sleep with the cool and dry air.  Pretty soon I’ll need to replace the dehumidifier with the humidifier.  It is amazing how fast that switch happens.  The seasons one enjoys the most seem to be the ones that go the quickest.

Spring and Fall are my favorites, maybe it is because I love the smell of lilacs and the flavor of Pumpkin Spice.

Due to my recent delve into TikTok culture, I have discovered more music
