Podcast Updates

This past week we finished up our ASAP Imagination guest run by having Edigbe Ubido on the show.  He is the intentionally acclaimed comic creator of “Birth of Golden Arm” which is now exclusively available through ASAP Imaginations NE1World platform.

I had such a great time getting to know all the ASAP Imagination folks and I look forward to having more of their creative team on in the future.

Project Updates

More progress on the first draft of ‘Appliance’ The Roleplaying game.  Here is an unedited excerpt I wrote on possible Antagonists that could be introduced:

Room Vs Room: In a room, objects end up spending most of their time with other objects near them.  Conversations, ideas, and dreams are shared with each other.  A level of camaraderie is formed.  Occasionally, Objects from other rooms might have conflicting agendas with other room objects creating disputes and hostility.

Home Vs Home: Different homes will have different sentient objects and these objects could very well have malicious intentions.  Reasons could be based on loyalty to their building, or human inhabitants.

Family Vs Family: Some Objects pride themselves on their loyalty to their Family and will fiercely defend their identity and the values their Family stereotypically represents.

Generation Vs Generation: This is the most common conflict that arises in the game.  Relics and Antiques view Smart devices and some Modern objects as an existential threat to their existence. Retro objects, being objectively in the middle of this type of conflict, work to maintain peace and ambassadorships between the generations, but many times this is much easier said than done.

Other Things: Other Things like Clothing, Vehicles, and Buildings not only can be great allies but also have motivations of their own that can come into dispute with the player characters.

Humans: Unbeknownst to most humans, they are some of the most destructive of Objects, and due to their dormancy in human visual presence, they can be taken apart, thrown away, or destroyed without the ability to protect themselves.

What I’m reading

This past week I read Scott Harris -King’s issue number 4 of ‘Crimebusters’.  He was on the show earlier this year to talk about it.  This was a thick fully colored 36-page holiday-themed adventure where the two main characters, Chuck and Trixie solve the mystery of the Krampus.

I am a fan of old golden age public domain comics and there are so many people trying to reintroduce old characters to a modern audience, but I feel Scott does it the best.

He can write a good pulpy story while nodding at the original material while updating it for a modern readership.

Personal Updates

It was finally back to school time and it was the kiddos first week as a 3rd grader and Kindergartener.  Since the wife leaves for work earlier than me and I have a more flexible schedule, I have been the obligatory drop off and pick up parent.

I know it is a pretty statement to make, but man, you blink, and they grow up.  At least we still have a 2-year-old here to make me still feel young.

Also, this weekend we had a yard sale.  It was fun but a lot of work, and we at least were able to get rid of some stuff.
I was also able to unload some of my old comic books too.  I ended up selling half of my unwanted comics which opened more room in the basement.
