Podcast Updates

This past week I had a couple of really fun interviews.

This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of chatting with the retired Vermont judge and author, Dean B. Pineles.  We connected with him through our friends at Rootstock Publishing.  He was here to talk about his book: A Judge's Odyssey: From Vermont to Russia, Kazakhstan, and Georgia, Then on to War Crimes and Organ Trafficking in Kosovo

On Thursday it was so fun to have back with us the highly renowned and internationally celebrated game designer, Ian Lemke. He was here to talk about his latest tabletop roleplaying game: Nevermore

Project Updates

I have been working more on ‘Appliance’ this past week and I am now 85 pages in with the first draft.  I have been working on the system aspects of utilizing Fate Core mechanics while also writing some more world-building pieces for the game.

Here is a sample of the gender of inanimate objects:

Gender

The initial gender identified onto an object follows the same inception as their personality, but gender is often more presumed onto an object than a personality.

As an example, when a vehicle receives sentience over 80% of the time, they are female.  This is because much of the time the female pronoun is used to describe a vehicle.

What I’m reading

That time of year again to settle in with some bedtime stories with the kiddos since it is getting darker earlier.

I read with the girls Jim Arnosky’s ‘Every Autumn Comes The Bear’.  I have always been an avid fan of Jim Arnosky’s work since he was the first children’s book author I met way back in the early 80’s in elementary school and he is local to my area.

He is a prolific illustrator and children’s book author who both possesses the empathy and creativity that makes children’s book authors so successful.

Personal Updates

This past week was a week of work meetings and playing the part of Mr Mom by taking kiddos to doctors appointments.  The benefit of having a more flexible work schedule means I am now the default parent to do the kid duties.  I am also the one who drops of and picks up the kids for school.  I am not complaining about it since I know that (as I mentioned previously) I am going to blink and they will be older.
