On Sunday, JP and I continued our cryptocurrency series where we focus on the history and viability of a specific cryptocurrency. We are going chronological, so in our third segment, we talked about Namecoin.
Then on Thursday, We were excited to have with us for episode 81, the inspirational and acclaimed writer, illustrator, teacher, and Pushcart Prize nominee, Eva Zimet!
Project Updates
With my second week back in the office, my creativity keeps me going! I came up with a new children’s book idea that is based on some background characters that I always added in my Lion and Dove cartoons. Any time Lion is reading a children’s book to Elizabear or Baby Jay, it is always a Karate Kitties book. It was just a book series I made up on the fly, but this past week I was looking at one of these pictures and an entire story came to me and I quickly storyboarded it out.
Next week I’ll be doing the character design for the 3 sisters in the book. Super Sister, Princess Sister, and Science Sister.
What I’m reading
Nostalgia set in for me as I revisited one of my favorite childhood books, ‘The Troll Book’ by Michael Berenstain.
I loved that my memories of the book stayed true. I think this book really launched me into the idea of world-building, as Berenstain showed the history, culture, and activities of trolls in a fun and entertaining way that inspired me as a child to make my own worlds.
As a matter of fact, I see inspirations of it in some of my work during art school.

Personal Updates
Now, in my second week of being back in the office, some semblance of normality is starting to set back in. I went to some yard sales, I have been doing the grocery shopping again (instead of using Instacart) and finding some hope in our vaccine numbers in Vermont. Our county is at above 80% vaccination rate, we have only 7 cases in the last 2 weeks, and Vermont as a whole is now at 78.6%.
At least here in the local news, the Coronavirus is not the first thing reported on now. All of this points to an increased level of cautious optimism.
