Storycomic Weekly Newsletter: June 19th
ALWAYS POSTED A WEEK EARLIER ON PATREON
Podcast Updates
This past week was a bit of a calm before the storm. Only one podcast this past week. We were excited to have with us Vermont author Robert Thorn. He talked to us about his latest book: Beyond The Veil: Part 1 – The Prophecy which is launching on June 14th!
Project Updates
I have been drawing and sketching every day on my Sister Kittens book. I’m excited about finally figuring out to draw the characters and have been working on pen style and palettes for it this past week on Procreate. I will probably have more images to share with you all next week.
What I am reading
I have been helping my 6-year-old with her reading by indulging her in the world of comics. I picked out from my bookshelf the Unico graphic novel. The story is pretty weird, and the story seems a bit haphazard, but I am also assuming it is a collection of serialized stories. It basically reminded me of a magical unicorn version of “Quantum Leap”.
Either way, it does the job of entertaining. From a graphic design perspective, I really love how the book does its frames. I really loved how the pictures of each frame bleed out past the borders to imply there is more happening in the story.
Personal Updates
Vermont is still knocking on an 80% vaccination rate. We are now at 79.8% and I’m sure that we’ll hit that golden mark this coming week. Cases are now in the daily single digits here, so it is safe to say that at least locally, COVID is winding down.
I discovered one of my Highschool art class buddies also moved to the area and is doing landscaping and design work.
I was very happy to have him come in and do a backyard walkway for me. The project is coming along great, and I am happy to see what it will look like once the cement paving stones are put in place.
I always try to do a couple of backyard summer projects each year.
