We had a full week of podcasts!  Since our last update, we had 3 more interviews to add to our library.  The first one was with well-known artist and YouTube star, Scott Serkland.  He talked about his career as an illustrator and cartoonist and provided some tips on how to make a living on it.

We also talked renowned Australian comic book writer and owner of Sigmate Studio, Stephen Kok with us.

He went into detail about his latest Kickstarter, Transhuman - Rivka's Story.

Finally I was excited to record Episode 32 with Joseph Citro, Vermont author and folklorist.

Joseph A. Citro has done a lot to keep New England's history and folklore alive in the popular culture. His 14 books include five novels of suspense, four volumes of historical oddities, three "eccentric" travel guides, and a co-edited book of essays.

We discussed his writing techniques and habits and his 30th anniversary edition of “Shadow Child’ and the releases of his enhanced editions of the “Vermont Monster Guide” and the “Vermont Ghost Guide”.

Project Updates

So, my Shiptember plans fell flat, so now I’m going to be gearing up for Drawtober.  There has been some controversy this year over Inktober, so there are a bunch of folks abandoning the Inktober participation this year and following different drawing prompts. 

I’m going to do something different and take the 31 days in October and draw a picture every day with my 6 year old (If she wants to) 

I am also going to be updating my Patreon tiers to a simple 2 tier program a $2 and a $5 tier.  I already have exclusive work for the two tiers and it will make things a bit easier for me as things evolve.

What I’m reading

I perused my bookshelf and decided to  reread “All Star Superman.”  It’s a great story by Grant Morrison.  He proved that a great Superman story can be told.  If you have not had the opportunity to read this limited series, you absolutely need to. 

Personal Updates

Very preoccupied at work with our Cerebral Palsy Conference planning.  I’ve been recording and editing some promotional videos; and I remember saying it before, but I am really happy with my day job.  Working for a nonprofit may not pay highly, but I sleep better at night knowing that I’m striving to make the world a better place and not making shareholders richer.

Sometimes I envy other artists who have miserable day jobs because that means they are not wasting their passion and creativity in other places.
