Podcast Updates
This past week I had two really fun interviews.
The first one we recorded live on Tuesday was with Jane Albirght.
Jane is the President of the International Wizard of Oz club. Jane joined the Oz Club in 1971 and began attending the Ozmopolitan Convention shortly thereafter. She has served as a director, vice president, and convention chairman; for a decade she edited a Club children’s publication, The Oz Gazette, and was the desktop publisher for The Oz Observer.
As a fan of L Frank Baum’s work, I was really excited to talk all things Oz with Jane. I enjoyed our conversation a lot.
On Thursday, I chatted with Jay Lichtenauer, owner of the premiere Old Time Radio station, ABN Antioch Old Time Radio.
This also was a great opportunity for me as I have been an avid listener of Jay’s radio station for around 15 years. I had so much fun talking with Jay about how he created his station and the passion he has for ensuring that the programs from the golden age of radio still live on.
Project Updates
I worked on some sketches for my new 2 Years intro this week. Once I get it drafted, I’ll reach out to some friends who have not been in the Peace Corps to ask for some feedback on how it works. Ultimately, I need to make sure the reader wants to keep turning the pages.
What I’m reading
This past week, I pulled another graphic novel from the shelf to read. I read the graphic novel version of James Patterson’s ‘Daniel X: Alien Hunter.’
The story was pretty standard and it struggled to make the protagonist relatable, but I did really enjoy the illustrations. It was a good balance of cartoon and superhero action established in a painted style.
It was a fine book; fun read; but didn’t give me any life changing ideas.
Personal Updates
Up here in Vermont, and much like other places around the country, COVID 19 cases are rising dramatically and at my work the cases came close to home with some folk in the office getting exposed.
It was a stressful week at work because of it, but this too will also pass.
On the other side, the little one is going to be 2 months old next week and November 14th marks my 8th Wedding Anniversary; so there are always things to be grateful for!
