Podcast Update: Overcoming Snafus and Looking Ahead
This week’s podcast adventures had a few bumps in the road, and I wanted to share the latest with you. I was slated to have two exciting interviews, but things didn’t go quite as planned.
First, I missed one of my guests due to a scheduling error. Then, during the interview with my other guest, they felt their answers didn't quite hit the mark and requested a do-over. While this gives me a bit of a reprieve from weekend editing, it does mean that my interview schedule is now a bit more packed in the upcoming weeks.
Despite these hiccups, I’m optimistic and looking forward to bringing you some great content soon. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we navigate these unexpected challenges. Stay tuned for some fantastic interviews coming your way, albeit a bit more squeezed together than originally planned.
Update on 'Daddest Jokes'
First off, the cover design is still in progress, and I’m working hard to make it as hilarious and eye-catching as the jokes inside. It’s coming together nicely, and I can’t wait for you all to see it.
I’m also still in the process of collecting jokes—aiming for over 500 of the best dad jokes out there. Each one is carefully selected to ensure maximum chuckles and groans. It’s been a blast going through so many jokes and finding the perfect ones for this volume.
On the illustration front, we’re making great strides. The goal is to have 25 illustrations that complement the jokes perfectly, adding an extra layer of fun to the reading experience. Each illustration is designed to bring the humor to life uniquely and engagingly.

Review: The Latest 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Comic Book Run
As a long-time fan of space-faring comic books and team-based stories, I had high hopes for the latest 'Guardians of the Galaxy' comic book run. However, my experience with this new series has been somewhat mixed.
Firstly, if you were expecting a continuation from the last series, be prepared for some confusion. The new run doesn't pick up where the previous one left off, and much of the storyline continues in other titles, making it hard to follow. This disjointed narrative flow is a significant letdown, especially when compared to the more finite series with clear beginnings, middles, and ends that I’ve come to appreciate.
The characters are still as likable as ever, with their quirky dynamics and individual arcs. But the new series feels overwhelmed by its ambition to craft yet another epic storyline. While the dramatic beginnings and large-scale mysteries are intriguing, they often overshadow the more personal, meaningful moments that made the Guardians special in the first place.
In "Grootfall," we see the Guardians at their lowest, dealing with self-abuse, violence, and personal turmoil. The creative team, including Jackson Lanzing, Colin Kelly, and Kev Walker, does a commendable job of portraying these flawed heroes. The artwork is expressive and atmospheric, capturing the gritty, space Western vibe perfectly. However, the constant stream of compelling mysteries and the emotional rollercoaster can sometimes feel too withholding, leaving readers with more questions than answers.
The series tries to balance individual character arcs with a larger narrative about a cosmic threat linked to Groot, but this balance feels off. The storytelling is often murky, with too many loose threads and not enough resolution. The dramatic power of starting 'in media res' works initially but ultimately adds to the feeling of being lost in the storyline.
While I appreciate the effort to keep the Guardians’ adventures fresh and engaging, the series falls into the trap of prioritizing epic scope over coherent storytelling. It’s a decent read if you're a die-hard fan, but it doesn’t quite capture the magic of earlier runs. For those of us who love a good team dynamic and a well-structured story, this latest run of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' feels like it’s missing that cohesive spark that made us fall in love with the team in the first place
Progress and Yard Sale Adventures
On the work front, I’ve made some great strides in securing more advertisers for the radio station. It's been a rewarding process, and I'm thrilled to see our advertising partnerships growing. In addition, I’ve started the process of hiring a part-time salesperson to help manage this increased interest. This is a big step for us, and I’m looking forward to bringing someone on board to help keep the momentum going.
We’ve also put plans in place for our first remote broadcast, which is a new and exciting venture for the station. There’s a lot to prepare, but I’m confident it will be a fantastic experience for our listeners and a great opportunity for us.
On a more personal note, this past Saturday was Memorial Day weekend, which means it was time for the annual yard sale adventure with my daughter Elizabeth. It’s a tradition for us to see how many yard sales we can hit in one day. Our previous record was 47-yard sales, but this year, we outdid ourselves and made it to 53! It was an incredible day filled with treasures, laughter, and priceless daddy-daughter memories.
