Celebrating Milestones and New Beginnings in Podcasting
The 300-Episode Milestone
While this week didn't include any new podcast interviews, it did bring a monumental achievement for my masthead podcast: We've officially reached 300 episodes! This milestone is a significant marker of the dedication and hard work of creating a podcast that resonates with many of you. I extend my deepest gratitude to our listeners for your continued support. Your engagement has been the driving force behind each episode, and I couldn't have reached this point without you.
Introducing the Children's Book Creator Podcast
In addition to celebrating 300 episodes of my masthead podcast, I'm thrilled to announce another exciting development: the official launch of the Children's Book Creator Podcast. This new podcast is designed to be a comprehensive resource for aspiring and established children's book industry authors. From the intricacies of the creative process to the nuts and bolts of publishing, this podcast will offer a deep dive into all aspects of creating children's books.
So, as we celebrate these significant milestones and look forward to new beginnings, I'm reminded of the core reason behind my podcasting journey: to provide valuable content that can help you in your own creative and professional endeavors. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey, and stay tuned for what's to come!
Continued Gratitude and New Adventures: An Update on Recent Successes
Still Celebrating Our Kickstarter Milestone
While I announced in last week's blog post that we successfully reached our Kickstarter goal, the thrill of that achievement hasn't worn off. I'm still incredibly grateful for the support that made this project a reality. Your contributions, social media shares, and encouraging words mean the world. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey and for validating the work we're so passionate about.
Recent Podcast Appearances
During this excitement, I've also had the opportunity to participate in two fantastic podcasts. I returned to the Two Dimension Podcast, where we had a lively discussion that included some dad jokes! If you haven't had a chance to listen yet, you can find the episode here.
Additionally, I had a unique and enjoyable experience doing my first-ever phone interview on the Fresh Ink Group Podcast. The conversation was insightful and fun, covering various topics related to storytelling and creativity. You can listen to that episode here.
Book Review: "The Cardboard Kingdom" by Chad Sell and Contributors
"The Cardboard Kingdom" is a captivating graphic novel that explores the imaginative worlds of sixteen neighborhood kids during one unforgettable summer. Chad Sell and contributors Jay Fuller and David DeMeo craft a narrative that seamlessly blends reality and imagination. The book's structure is particularly ingenious, with each chapter focusing on a different character, allowing for an in-depth look into individual worlds without overwhelming the reader.
What sets this book apart is its inclusivity and compassionate storytelling. Friendships form naturally as more kids join the cardboard adventures, and the narrative tackles severe topics with sensitivity. The representation of diverse characters and experiences adds depth, making it relatable to young and adult readers.
In summary, "The Cardboard Kingdom" celebrates childhood, imagination, and community. Its universal appeal makes it a must-read for anyone who cherishes the magic of imaginative play and the value of friendship.
A Memorable Week: NADSP Conference and Exploring Pittsburgh
This past week blended professional milestones and personal joys as I drove to Pittsburgh for the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) conference. Wrapping up my second term on the NADSP board was bittersweet; it was wonderful to reconnect with everyone in person and feel the collective passion for our mission.
While in Pittsburgh, I also got to catch up with Carye Bye, a previous guest on my podcast. She showed me around the city, adding a layer of personal exploration to my trip.
But the cherry on top was my visit to the Heinz History Center, where I was captivated by the Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood exhibit. Seeing the iconic sets and pieces in person was a nostalgic and heartwarming experience.
I am growing my Patreon and offering an excellent way for my independent creative community to have a sustained manner of advertising their work!
