Storycomic Weekly Newsletter: January 14th
Podcast Updates
We had no new podcasts this week, but I did work diligently on booking new guests for the first couple of months this year. I’m excited to see what I bring you!
Project Updates
I was able to make more World of Warcraft postcard designs to sell on Etsy. The challenge I am seeing now is that they are print-on-demand, but the only place that postcard printing is offered on the Printify website is from the UK which adds a significant amount of shipping costs for U.S. customers.
I am going to try to make these postcards have a digital download option.
This past week I also did more Nerd Stock Talk scripts for my World of Warcraft investing videos that I will be producing soon.
What I’m reading
I read ‘Mighty Jack and the Goblin King’ by Ben Hatke this past week. Compared to the first book, ‘Mighty Jack’, this one had less dialogue and more action. The second book was also much more overt in its inspiration of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and also gives a robust backstory and does some substantial world-building as well.
Ben does a great job in his art and his storytelling, and I am excited now to read his other IPs, particularly now Zita, the Spacegirl.
Personal Updates
Now that we are in the new year, my health insurance has changed and it will no longer cover my NOOM subscription, so now the safety net is off when it comes to my weight loss. I’m still a bit away from my goal weight of 174, but I have been entrenched for almost a year to be below 190. I’ve been hanging out in the 180s for a long time and will be determined to get into the 170s this year at least.
Also as new years resolutions go, I will be once again attempting to publish 2 books. I will do a Dad Joke sequel book and also another one that could either be my children’s book or my Appliance game.
