Storycomic Weekly Newsletter: February 4th
Podcast Updates
This past week, I had a couple of fun interviews. On Tuesday, Mark Gonyea came back on the show. He was first on the way back in Episode 2 of my podcast, and he is finally back almost 3 years later.
We chatted about his newest passions and projects with his woodcut designs, games, and posters.
He also shared his story of being chosen to design a comic book cover for Kevin Smith. Mark has so many projects going on; it is so fun to talk with him. His passion for design is infectious.
Morgan Quaid is also someone who has many concurrent projects and is eager to share his passion and advice on writing novels and comics. He was on my show last Thursday. Morgan is an accomplished musician and award-winning writer of both comics and books.
I had a great time chatting with him as well, and we were also able to share stories about our childhood stuffed animals.
Project Updates
This week was more plugging away on my World of Warcraft / Investing YouTube scripts. I am excited to see how these will turn out once I start editing them. This could be a great theme to expand into other IPs regarding investment personality traits.
What I’m reading
A while ago, I backed Tiny Library on Kickstarter. It is a deck of 50 single-card RPGs from various creators, and this kit is chock full of inspiration. Some of the cards are very much stand-alone mini-role-playing games. Other cards are inspirations for creative minds; some are resources people could use for their games.
Some cards are easily understood, while other games deal with more philosophical challenges. This deck of 50 games is a font of creativity and motivation for anyone who likes games.
Personal Updates
I was excited to pick up my mother-in-law from the airport on Monday. It was also exciting to drive down to Boston in a snowstorm. I passed by at least 11 accidents on my way down and back. It wasn’t too stressful, to be honest, because I gave myself plenty of time to get to the airport on time, and I had studded winter tires on the car. I recall my father always saying that one needs to drive at a speed that matches the conditions of the road, and that is what I did. On some stretches of the interstate, I was going 25 miles per hour, which was just fine.
I was also a guest on Patrick Lugo’s podcast on Wednesday. We chatted about all kinds of things, from teas to baboons to kung fu. It was a perfect time.
