Storycomic Weekly Newsletter: January 28th
Podcast Updates
This past Tuesday, I was excited to have with us the internationally acclaimed Children's Book Author of Our Scrumptious Lake PHYTOTASTIC, Sandy Murphy! We discussed this fantastic book that makes science and lake ecosystems fun and accessible to a younger audience with this middle-grade graphic novel.
Project Updates
I worked more on my World of Warcraft investment-themed YouTube scripts. It is a fun break from my other projects, and I am excited to get some of them recorded and uploaded. I have also been passively updating some of my World of Warcraft pictures and adjusting them for sales as posters.
What I’m reading
This past week I finally got to read ‘Olaju: The Edge of Origins’ by one of our past guests, Peter Chizoba Daniel. It is a gorgeous graphic novel that is inspired by Nigerian folklore. This story is unique to most other comics I have read in the past, and I would categorize it mainly in the high fantasy genre, or it could be in a new category on its own of African High Fantasy.
Also, Alexander Rudewerks Ighuoja’s illustrations are incredibly bold and colorful and add to the magical setting along with the painterly style. I am looking forward to the next installment.
Personal Updates
This past week was the last week of not having the mother-in-law here. I am so excited to pick her up from the airport on Monday! As I mentioned in previous posts, I am sure I will look back on these last couple of months with nostalgia over the increased time I spent with my 2-year-old son. Still, I am happy that I will be able to make more progress on my work projects for my day job.
I am also proud of myself for not succumbing to the temptation to buy more lego collections on the Facebook marketplace. I am concentrating on shrinking my present collections and posting them on eBay.
