Podcast Updates

This past week I had two very fun conversations. We continued on with our ASAP Imagination themed month of interviews.  On Tuesday I was excited to have with us the intentionally acclaimed and celebrated creative team behind the OPSEC Comic series, D. W. Howard (Nem) and Mateo Maciorowski!

This past Thursday it was really fun to chat with the intentionally acclaimed author of the LitRPG Wild Worlds, Mitch Larkins!

He is here to talk about his LitRPG series, Wild Worlds, and his work on his ASAP Imagination projects.

Project Updates

This was another week of plugging away at the ‘Appliance’ game.  I think i finished up the first draft of the history of the sentient objects.  I am sure I can fill it up a bit after I start writing up the history of the individual Object Families.

I also decided to use more Latin terms for the Family and Guild names to add a sense of authority to the world setting of the game

What I’m reading

As I have been trying to be a more proactive member of the Kids Comics Unite group, I have moved many of my Kids Comics books to the top of my reading pile. The one that I have had in my collection for a bit that I have not gotten to read was ‘HowToons: Tools of Mass Construction ‘ by Dr Saul Griffith and NIck Dragotta.

This was a massive 250+ STEM Science book disguised as a Kid's Graphic Novel.  Inside was a lot of crafts that kids can make at home looped into a storyline that follows a brother and sister looking to do things during summer vacation.

Depending on the age of the child, this is a great book for a kid to read or have read with an adult. I introduced this to my 8-year-old as she loves kid's comics, but was a bit overwhelmed by the science aspect as it introduces some math formulas, but she did really love how accessible the craft designs were as it used common household items as ingredients.

This is not a one-and-done book, but look at it as an interactive science and crafting book for kids who want to learn more about science or those who love to create cool things.

Personal Updates

Last weekend the sudden realization that the summer is coming to an end inspired me to get out and do more with the kiddos.

We had some Daddy/ Daughters time.  The oldest one finally wore down the mom and I and will allow her to get a pet for the first time.  It is going to be a hamster. This giant milestone will happen on her 8th birthday later this month.

In preparation for the big day, we visited a pet shop where she could hold a hamster.  She said this was the best day of her life.  The other daughter tagged along and we stopped for ice cream after.
