Podcast Updates
This past week I was very excited to have back with us the award-winning and internationally acclaimed Children's Book Author & Illustrator, Bethany Stahl!
She came to chat about her latest book in the ‘Save The Earth’ Series, ‘Save The Air’, The upcoming Self Pubby Awards, and her newest OnDemand course website, www.selfpubby.com
Project Updates
I have been going full steam on the ‘Appliance’ game, working more on defining skills and stunts. I am thrilled with my creativity level on this so far.
I did get a bit worried for a minute or two when I stumbled upon an actual play by Little Red Dot on her YouTube Channel called Fate of the Appliance Wars.
I did watch it and am relieved to say that the premise of the setting is completely different. Now I am very happy to continue my game development.
What I’m reading
Since this past week was spent more free time working on my project and cleaning up the basement office, I was weak on the reading side. I did get to spend more time with the bedtime stories with the kiddos. Elizabeth read to us one of Mo Willems’ books. She read ‘There Is a Bird on Your Head!’ it is one of his Elephant and Piggie books.
This book and his style of books remind me a bit of Eric Carle and Dr. Suess. His illustrations and simple and creative use of words are accessible, much like Carle’s books, but the humorous and entertaining storyline that appeals to both adults and children is reminiscent to me of Dr. Suess.
Every children’s book library at home should have at least one Mo Willem book.
Personal Updates
I am temporarily leaving my Lego organizing phase to double down on getting my basement organized. As a person who can get (will get) easily distracted, I do better to have less around me on my desk and around my desk.
We are also experiencing quite a little heat wave with temperatures above 90 degrees for 5 straight days, so staying hidden in a cooler basement office has been beneficial.
