Podcast Updates

This past week I was happy to have two fun and engaging interviews.

On Tuesday, I had on the show the accomplished and talented creative team of ‘It’s Monkey Time!’,  Gary Dufner & Phil Avelli. They came on to talk about their latest Kickstarter: It’s Monkey Time!

The two of them have a great conversation rhythm and banter that made the show go by quickly, even though my internet kept going out.

I look forward to having them come on again sometime.

On Thursday, the internationally respected historian and writer, Andrew Liptak came on the show.

He was here to chat about his latest book ‘COSPLAY: A HISTORY - The Builders, Fans, and Makers Who Bring Your Favorite Stories to Life’ (On sale June 28, 2022; Saga Press) with a foreword by former MythBusters co-host Adam Savage.

Project Updates

This past week, I worked on some youtube idea scripts that involve some of my Nerd Stock Talk themes.

I also did more editing and drafting of my ‘Appliance’ game this past week. I spent time working on explaining the rules of the FATE system.  Making slow progress is still progress.

What I’m reading

I read Eric Orchard’s book, ‘Maddy Kettle: The Adventure of the Thimblewitch’.  This was a fun middle-grade-level graphic novel that is around 90 pages.

It was a fast-paced fun adventure about a girl trying to save her parents and floating toad pet from goblins.

I really loved the world Orchard established and the settings of sky goblins, talking animals, and cartography set up a lot of adventures inside the world.  His drawing style also has a fun and engaging way of entrancing young readers.

When the book was finished, I was hungry to read more about this enchanting world.

Personal Updates

This week I did more organizing and discovered of Legos sets that I have.  Most are from the Chima series that I have no nostalgia over since they were released around 2013, many years after I stopped collecting back in the early 90s.

Our oldest daughter finished up her 2nd-grade year this past Tuesday, marking the official start of summer vacation. With Vermont now basically getting into the “endemic” phase of COVID; especially with the announcement of kids younger than 5 years old becoming eligible for the vaccine we are going to feel much more comfortable visiting the local family vacation spots around the area.
