Podcast Updates

I was thrilled to be talking to two returning guests at the show.  The first one was the very talented and imaginative boardgame designer, Creative Director/Founder of NIBCARD Games, And founder of the African Boardgame Convention, Kenechukwu Ogbuagu!  He was on the show over two years ago, and we were able to check in with him again on his newest projects.

We were also excited to have the award-winning and internationally celebrated author Amy Laurens back with us for the fifth time!

We chat about more things, including being an author with ADHD and great ways to stay creative. It is always a joy to talk with Amy.

Project Updates

This week I have been working on an introductory adventure module for ‘Appliance’ that takes place in a supposedly haunted movie theater. I am happy to say that I am at 140 pages of my draft so far and will hopefully start doing some playtesting in the next month.

I have also defined some ‘Sidekick’ or ‘minion’ rules that would involve utilizing nonsentient objects.  I am very excited about getting this game up and running soon!

What I’m reading

I have been researching and designing my FATE Core adventure module for my ‘Appliance’ game and found Mindjammer Press’ cosmic fantasy roleplaying game, ‘The Chronicles of Future Earth’, an excellent resource.

I could digest their 64-page QuickStart rules, but I enjoyed how they set up their introductory adventure.  Each FATE Core game always does something different; besides the magic system here, I appreciate how they set up Wealth and Status stress boxes along with the standard Physical and Mental stress boxes.

Personal Updates

This was the week before Christmas, so many last minutes of present shopping, and there was always a ‘hurry up and wait’ status at work where jobs and duties still needed to be done. Still, projects are put on hold basically while people are out for the next couple of weeks due to the holidays.

I have been able to do more Lego organizing and getting things set up for selling on eBay, and I must say that Elizabeth has been a good student of present wrapping.  She also enjoys doing it, which makes my job much more manageable.

I am full of gratitude still over having three healthy kids, great friends, and a supportive family.  2022 has been a year of happiness and growth.
