Shadow Priests mainly deal their damage at range and excel in multi-DoT situations on spread or stacked AoE. Shadow struggles with mobility, but this can be circumvented by using instant cast spells while moving and pre-placing in an optimal position if you know you'll need to move ahead of time. Sustained Damage

Shadow is a ranged DPS spec specializing in sustained damage, not burst. It's an excellent choice for those who prefer to deal high damage and have excellent self-healing capabilities.

While Shadow Priests can have adequate aoe damage against most mobs, it excels at single-target DoTs. The sustained damage and utility of having spells heal give them the versatility to survive.

These are also the same reasons why you would invest in ETFs
