Podcast Update: Preparing for a Strong Start in the New Year
We’re still on hiatus from recording new interviews for Storycomic Presents, but the behind-the-scenes work hasn’t slowed down! I’m currently scheduling new interviews, and we’re already looking ahead to February for some exciting guest lineups.
In the meantime, I’ve been focusing on updating my two other podcasts: We Make Children’s Books and Vermont Authors & Artists. It’s been great revisiting these projects and ensuring they’re ready to deliver engaging and inspiring content for listeners.
This break from new interviews has given me the opportunity to refresh and refine my approach, and I’m excited about what’s in store for all three podcasts in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates and announcements as we gear up for a fantastic 2024!
Project Update: Back to Work on Daddest Jokes
After a brief holiday pause, I’m excited to share that I’m back at it with Daddest Jokes! Progress is picking up as I dive into editing and fine-tuning the collection. The jokes are shaping up, and it’s always fun to revisit these groan-worthy classics and see how they land on paper.
This stage of the process—bringing everything together—is where the book really starts to feel real. From curating the best punchlines to ensuring they’re all polished and ready for readers, I’m thrilled to be back in the creative flow.
Thank you for sticking with me on this journey! Stay tuned for more updates as Daddest Jokes inches closer to becoming a book you can hold in your hands. The dad jokes are coming—brace yourselves!
Book Review: The Night Before Christmas
’Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house…
It’s impossible not to feel a warm glow of nostalgia when revisiting The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore. This timeless classic captures the magic and anticipation of Christmas Eve with its melodic verses and charming imagery. Every line feels like a sprinkle of holiday cheer, painting a cozy picture of stockings, reindeer, and the jolly man himself, Santa Claus.
For me, reading this book on Christmas Eve is more than a tradition—it’s a cherished moment that brings the whole family together. The kids always light up when we reach the part about Santa and his reindeer, and their giggles and awe at the descriptions of “his belly that shook like a bowl full of jelly” make it worth every year.
The rhythm and rhyme of the story are perfect for reading aloud, making it easy to imagine snowy nights and the sound of sleigh bells. Its timeless appeal transcends generations, reminding young and old alike of the wonder and joy that Christmas brings.
Whether it’s your first read or your hundredth, The Night Before Christmas has a special way of creating memories. It’s a holiday essential that leaves everyone with visions of sugar plums—and Santa’s cheerful promise—as they drift off to sleep. 🎄
Personal Update: A Relaxing Christmas Week
This past week was Christmas, and we kept it low-key and fun, just the way we like it. We stayed in, and the kids had a blast enjoying their new toys. It was great seeing their excitement and diving into some of their favorite gifts.
Elizabeth and I spent some quality time playing board games together, which was a lot of fun. It’s always nice to slow down and connect over a game.
We also treated ourselves to a mini getaway, spending a few days at a local resort in New Hampshire. It was such a refreshing change of pace and a perfect way to recharge as a family.
On the work front, we had a basketball game broadcast this past weekend, and I was thrilled to see that everything ran smoothly without me needing to be there. It’s a great feeling to know the team is handling things so well.
Overall, it was a wonderful Christmas week filled with relaxation, family time, and a little bit of adventure. Here’s to carrying that holiday joy into the new year! 🎄
