Project Update: Stalled but Not Forgotten
This week, progress on Daddest Jokes and Appliance has stalled a bit as my focus has been pulled toward the radio station. With holiday greetings, basketball broadcasts, and other station initiatives ramping up, my time has been largely devoted to making sure everything runs smoothly on that front.
While it’s a little frustrating to see my personal projects take a backseat, I know it’s part of balancing multiple priorities. The radio station’s growth and success are incredibly rewarding, and I’m confident I’ll be able to carve out more time for my creative projects in the near future.
For now, things may be moving slowly, but they’re not forgotten. Sometimes progress comes in bursts, and I’m hopeful that the next burst of inspiration and time will bring these projects closer to the finish line. Thanks for sticking with me on this journey!
Rediscovering "Computers: Those Amazing Machines"
Recently, I rediscovered "Computers: Those Amazing Machines" by National Geographic in a box full of old books from my childhood. This book, part of a mail order series from National Geographic, was a staple of my early learning. Flipping through its pages brought back a flood of memories from when these books arrived at our doorstep, each new volume eagerly anticipated.
The book offers a fascinating snapshot of early computer technology, and it's intriguing to see how it envisioned the future. Published in 1985, it explores the fundamentals of computing just as personal computers began making their way into homes and schools. What strikes me now is the accuracy with which it predicted the integration of technology into daily life, from basic programming concepts to the burgeoning potential of the internet.
As a kid, I couldn't have appreciated the foresight the authors had. But today, it serves not only as a nostalgic trip down memory lane but also as a testament to the visionaries of that era who understood where technology could take us. This book is a valuable piece of technological history, capturing the excitement and optimism of the computer age dawning in the mid-80s.
Weekly Personal Update
This week has been a whirlwind of activity, with plenty of progress on multiple fronts. On the eBay side of things, it’s been a busy week with more sales coming through. I also made a trip down to Castleton to pick up items I won in an auction, filling the car with speculative finds that I’m hoping will turn into a few good sales. You never know until you try, but it’s all part of the fun of this side hustle.
At home, I’m still in the process of cleaning up the downstairs to make room for the washer and dryer. It’s a big project, but I’m making steady progress, and I’m hoping to have everything ready to move the appliances in the next couple of weeks.
Winter is officially here now, and the cold has definitely set in. While the frosty mornings and chilly days take some getting used to, they also signal the start of the cozy holiday season, which I always look forward to.
On the radio station front, things are going great. I’m really happy with the direction we’re heading and the momentum we’ve built. It’s been a busy but rewarding week, and I’m looking forward to seeing how everything continues to unfold!
