Podcast Updates

We had a reasonably light week for podcasts.  Last Tuesday, We were honored to have the award-winning and acclaimed Vermont  Author of Redeemed and Rectified, Pollyanna Porter!

She had some great advice on the difference between research writing and writing from the gut and the benefits of both.

Also, on ‘Vermont Artists and Authors, ’ we had the rebroadcast of our conversation with the retired Vermont judge and author, Dean B. Pineles.  We connected with him through our friends at Rootstock Publishing.  He was here to talk about his book: A Judge's Odyssey: From Vermont to Russia, Kazakhstan, and Georgia, Then on to War Crimes and Organ Trafficking in Kosovo.

Project Updates

This week was doing a bit more editing on my Dadder Joke book.  A few of my friends who are working on doing variant covers for me showed me what they have in place, and they look amazing so far.

Also, I finished editing two of my ‘From Azeroth to Wall Street’ videos this week.  The first one took a while, but once I established a format, the second one was quick to assemble. I am going to try and get those together regularly.

What I’m reading

I read ‘Mel the Chosen’ by Rachele Aragno this week, and I could not help but compare it a bit to Jim Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’ movie with a dash of ‘Alice in Wonderland.

The visually engaging graphic novel follows a girl on an adventure into a magical world to break the spell of an evil wizard who grants people wishes but at a cost.

I delighted in the theme of ‘do not grow up too fast’ and ‘be careful what you wish for.’  The final confrontation with the antagonist at the end felt rushed, but I loved some of the characters Mel meets along the way and the fantastical settings of some of the environments.

This was a fun book to read, and honestly, I felt it was a better read for an adult than a middle-grade reader, as the central theme might be lost on them.

Personal Updates

I had my annual physical this week and am still doing well.  Still healthy enough not to need any prescriptions for anything and now getting more active since we are entirely into Spring.

As I may have said, Spring has been my favorite time of year since I became a homeowner.  Watch your yard, and all beasts and critters wake up and become active.  We have a Ring Camera in the backyard (because of bears), and I love watching the camera the next day and seeing who we had come through in the nighttime.  Nothing overly exciting or exotic, just the occasional fox, woodchuck, and raccoon.

I was proud of getting the drywall hung up in my renovated bedroom. The room is starting to take some significant shape.  I will see how far I will be plugging along this week.

Ceiling drywall is up! Boy, is that stuff heavy!

Helping Daddy hang out the clothes to dry.
