Podcast Updates

This week we had two returning guests.

Last Tuesday, We welcomed back to the show famed writer and artist Caleb Palmquist! He was here to discuss his latest Kickstarter, The Knight and the Lion: A Swords of Arthur Story. This fresh take on a classic Arthurian legend was years in the making for him, and I was excited to talk to him about this project finally. Caleb is always a wealth of information and has some good pointers for those thinking about writing their comic.

Last Thursday, Sam Vera returned to the show for a third time, reaching the coveting status of ‘Friend of the Show’! This internationally acclaimed and talented comic creator was here to discuss his latest Kickstarter: There's an Alien in my Toilet Volume #1.  He had some great Kickstarter advice that any seasoned or new comic creator could learn, especially about running a Kickstarter.

I also had the remastered interview with Joseph Citro for my ‘Vermont Artists and Authors podcast earlier last year. He was here to discuss his pandemic project book, ‘Loose Ends: Memories of a Life Not Yet Lived.’ We also discussed the recent releases of his enhanced editions of the “Vermont Monster Guide” and the “Vermont Ghost Guide”, and his upcoming yet unnamed horror comic book project with Robert Brunelle Jr.

Project Updates

I made some good headway on a few projects this past week.  I changed all my World of Warcraft postcards on Etsy from physical to digital purchases.  This is by no means a way to make a lot of money but a method of introducing some passive income streams for me in the future.

I also have been plugging away on my sequel book to Dad Jokes.  ‘Dadder Jokes’ is transposed into InDesign now, and I updated a few page illustrations by giving me more room for the words.  In the earlier edition, some background images took up more space than needed.

Jesse wrote his first draft for my Lion and Dove remake, and I will go over it in the coming week and send him some feedback.  I am excited about this!

What I’m reading

This past week I read ‘The Phantom Twin’ by Lisa Brown.  As a fan of the graphic novel medium, I always enjoy reading stories not typically seen in the library's YA or children’s book section.

I stumbled upon this one in the library's adult section, among the other graphic novels that touch on adult themes.

This one is about how recently separated conjoined twins can continue their lives separate from each other.

The 1920s-era traveling circus carries the dark aspects of day-to-day life, but the artwork is unique and fits well with the book.  I always appreciate the artist/author storytellers; Lisa Brown is a talent.

Now I am going to dive into her children’s books.

Personal Updates

This week was full of some more excellent weather, and I have made some significant forward momentum in establishing my next career move.  I cannot say anything yet, but I am excited about the possibility.

As the snow starts to melt and the warm days mix in with the miserable cold and windy days, the hope of Spring is here.

I removed the patio furniture from winter storage, and some spring flowers are starting—all signs of warmer weather.
