Podcast Updates

I had two fun interviews this past week.

Internationally acclaimed world builder and comic creator Matta Sorcier came on the show last Tuesday.

She was here to discuss her heartfelt, diverse, and unique fantasy world of Sacrimony.

She also had some great advice on building a readership community and her favorite parts of world-building.

On Thursday, Vermont's famed & highly talented illustrator and cartoonist, Marc Hughes, came on the show.

We enjoyed chatting about how cartooning has evolved over the last 30 years and the importance between caricature work and illustration work.

We also were able to chat about his latest foray into writing.

Project Updates

This week was more plans on getting ‘Dadder Jokes’ ready for my first Kickstarter.  I connected with a few of my previous guest friends, who agreed to do some variant covers for the book!  The idea of doing variant covers came from my interview with Matta this week when she stated that she had had great success in doing variant covers and found it fun for her readers to appreciate.

I was also working on the primary cover for the book this week.

What I’m reading

I was happy to have discovered ‘The Complete Adventures of Johnny Mutton’ by James Proimos.

It was an entertaining kids’ graphic novel split into small 6 – 8 page stories. This book was the collection of 3 previously published books that followed the entertaining story snippets of Johnny Mutton.

I felt that James Proimos had a genuinely fun time writing up the stories, and this is proof that there takes a particular skill to write a children’s graphic novel that carries on its humor, skill, and style that keeps all ages engaged.

I felt like a child again reading this book as it was reminiscent of some of the books I read as a kid that had small 6-8 page stories.

Personal Updates

I was not very happy with our cold snap this past week.  It hampered my ability to do more outside chores.  I was able to spread more mulch on some of my landscaping, however, so the mulch pile delivered last week is ever so slowly getting smaller.

The most excitement from this past week was a resident's altercation with a police past Thursday night. He ran away and was considered “armed and dangerous.” The school was canceled on Friday since he has still not been found.

My father came by on Saturday and helped with the electrical part of the basement bedroom project.  It has been slow going as I have been trying to save money by seeing how much work I can do myself.  It turns out not much!
