Podcast Updates

This past week I had two new guests on my show, and I had a great time chatting with them about their work and creative process.

On Tuesday, I was excited to have on the podcast the acclaimed and celebrated comic book writer and owner of OG Comics,  Nick Helms!

He was here to talk about his latest issue of Vengeance and upcoming projects that will be taking place in his OG Universe.

Later in the week, I was honored to have with us the award-winning and acclaimed Author of Walking Home and Augusta, Celia Ryker!

She talked about how she was able to turn memoirs into engaging reading and how she was able to navigate the many legends and stories about her grandmother and weave them into a fantastic historical fiction novel.

Project Updates

I received feedback from one of my exceptional children’s book writer connections.  They are great notes, and I look forward to writing a new draft and getting further feedback.

I look forward to providing new information. This coming week will also be more projects.

What I’m reading

I read the second Barb book, ‘Barb and the Ghost Blade’.  It continued to possess the same delightful storytelling magic of Dan and Jason.  They expertly weave in serious adventures with childlike humor.  Their style is reminiscent of the golden age of Nickelodeon cartoons with the class of a Disney film.

Book 2 focused on Barb’s character development into a more idealized hero, and her supporting characters are also starting to emerge.

Dan and Jason are some of the best middle-grade comic creators.

Personal Updates

Just when we thought Spring was around the corner, we got a consistent dumping of snow all week.  It made some driving a bit hectic for a bit. The wife and I went to our old stomping grounds in Concord, New Hampshire. I went there for work reasons, and she was able to reconnect with some of her Mary Kay friends.

We got a chance to go out to eat at Olive Garden (Classy, I know!), and since we have been eating healthier for so long, she commented on how salty the food was.  I let her know that it has always been this salty.  That is just how restaurant chain food tastes!

On the home front, my contractor friend has made some steady progress with our downstairs bedroom remodel.

On my morning walk. My Neighbors love each other.
