Podcast Updates

This week we were honored to have the inspiring and acclaimed Author of Cracked: My Life After A Skull Fracture, Jim Barry!

He talked about how he wrote about his life-changing incident and turned it into a story of inspiration and fortitude.  His message of ‘struggling forward’ is a theme we can all learn from.

We also had the updated interview of our Dan Chodorkoff interview on our ‘Vermont Artists & Authors’ podcast. We were fortunate to have the notable Dan Chodorkoff on the show. He talked about his latest novel, ‘Sugaring Down’. It is a historical political fiction book that takes place in the backdrop of Vermont in the 1960s.  it was very fun chatting with him and learning about his pragmatic and passionate style of writing.

Project Updates

This past week I was able to write up a second draft of my ‘Scrappy’ children’s book.  I got some really good feedback and will work more on it again in the upcoming week by trying to trim down the word count.  It is floating around 900 words, and I will try to shave off another hundred words or so.

What I’m reading

This past week I read issue 3 of ‘There’s an Alien in my Toilet’ by the fun and talented Samuel Vera. In issue 3, the reader meets Herman, the Chihuahua who acts as the foil to Doodie’s adventures and exploration of this new world he is lost in.

Samuel can add humor and cartoonish innocence while keeping it entertaining for an older reader.

I like how the book reminded me of a loony tunes cartoon.

Personal Updates

This was my first official whole week away from my day job, and I could concentrate on the many of my creative projects that had been gathering dust.

Just as I hoped that would not happen, I thought of a new book idea that I could work on, so I researched how to use the dictation tool on Microsoft Word.  Seems a bit easier than one would expect.

We had a Parent Teacher conference this week too.  The two girls are doing great, and each teacher was quick to point out how artistic they are.  My lovely daughters!
