This past Tuesday, We were honored to have with us the highly regarded and acclaimed Author of Granite Kingdom, Eric Pope!

He was here to discuss his fantastic historical fiction book in 1910’s Vermont Granite quarry town.

On Thursday, We are excited to have back with us the acclaimed and celebrated comic book writer and owner of Diebold Comics,  John Holland.  We talked about his newest Kickstarter, Alma.  We also chatted about the upcoming convention season and how he is preparing to have a successful summer.

Project Updates

Very happy to announce that I have had my first draft done for ‘Scrappy’ and is now being proofread by one of my exceptional children’s book connections.  I look forward to her feedback and will soon be ready to identify an illustrator.

What I’m reading

I read the second Hilo book, ‘Hilo: Saving the Whole Wide World’, and liked how it felt like a movie sequel would feel.

Judd Winick took the characters' danger in the first one and set the bar hiring to create a unique sense of risk that the main characters had to face.

This goes more into depth about Hilo’s backstory while giving the main supporting characters more growth.  Because of this, there are more impactful decisions that are made by the children that appear to ripple into other books.

There are nine books in the series, and I will keep up with them all.

Personal Updates

Rick, my friend, and the contractor were busy this week finishing cleaning out the basement game room and started putting insulation on the walls.

The Fitbit I had for almost four years was finally on its last legs, so I broke down and bought my first Apple Watch.  Wow, it is way different than a Fitbit.  It was more like a mini iPad than a health tracker, so I quickly learned that I needed to download the appropriate apps to the watch to have it, at the very least, mimic the usages I had for my Fitbit watch.
