James Kochalka's Banana Fox: A Vermont Cartooning Gem

Kochalka's Banana Fox is a hero unlike any other, endearing yet blissfully unaware. His escapades, which include a stint in library jail and run-ins with the young villain Sour Grapes Jr., are laugh-out-loud funny. The book cleverly emphasizes the importance of returning library books, making it a perfect read for young audiences.

What sets this book apart is Kochalka's unique cartooning style. The artwork is lively and colorful, enhancing the whimsical narrative. Each character is distinct, complete with their quirks, making them memorable long after you've turned the last page. The dialogue is sharp, and the interactions between Banana Fox and his sidekicks are highlighted, providing plenty of wit and humor.

As an early reader, the chapter book "Banana Fox and the Book-Eating Robot" is accessible but never sacrifices depth or character development. It's a well-paced story that young readers will find easy to navigate while also offering enough substance to keep adults entertained.

In summary, "Banana Fox and the Book-Eating Robot" is a must-read for the 7-10 age group and their parents. It's a delightful blend of humor, adventure, and life lessons wrapped in Kochalka's signature cartooning style. So, if you want to laugh, ponder, and ensure you've returned all your library books, this book is for you. Don't miss this fantastic addition to the world of Vermont cartooning!

Another Week down at WYKR (We’re Streaming now!)

This week has been another whirlwind of learning and progress at the radio station. We've significantly improved our live stream connection, and I'm happy to report it is running much more smoothly now.

One of the most exciting projects I've embarked on is the transcription of old cassettes to MP3 format. It's a lengthy process, but there's something incredibly nostalgic and rewarding about listening to recordings from the early 2000s and '90s. It's like a trip down memory lane, and I can't wait to share these gems with our listeners.

I'm starting to find my groove in running the station, although there's still a mountain of knowledge to climb. Every day brings new challenges and learning opportunities, and I'm embracing them all.

Last but not least, our new website is live! Feel free to check it out at www.wykr.com. It's another step in modernizing the station and making it more accessible to our audience.

Overall, it's been a fulfilling week, and I'm eager to see what the next one brings. Stay tuned!

I was in another newspaper :)
