A Week of Riveting Conversations: Storycomic Presents Episodes 316, 317, and 318

This week on Storycomic Presents, hosted by Barney Smith, we had the privilege of diving deep into the worlds of comics, graphic novels, and storytelling with three exceptional creators. Each episode offered a unique perspective on the creative process, industry insights, and the stories that captivate us.

Episode 316: Brad Guigar - The Veteran of Webcomics

Our week started with Brad Guigar, a comics industry veteran with over two decades of experience. Brad is the mind behind the hit series Evil Inc and has been nominated for prestigious awards like the Eisner and the Silver Reuben. He's not just a creator; he's also an educator, teaching at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and serving as the editor-in-chief of Webcomics.com. Brad shared invaluable advice for aspiring comic creators and gave us a closer look at the world of Evil Inc.

Episode 317: D Ajayi - The Epic Tale of 'O Kingdom Come'

Next, we were honored to feature D Ajayi, the award-winning creator of the graphic novel series 'O Kingdom Come.' This series is an epic tale set in the ancient Nile Kingdoms, focusing on the dramatic fall of the Nubian Empire. D Ajayi masterfully blends history, culture, and mythology to create a world as educational as it is captivating. If you're a fan of intricate mysteries and unexpected plot twists, this series promises to be your next obsession. For more, visit O Kingdom Come.

Episode 318: Winston Gambro - A Fresh Take on Horror

We wrapped up the week with Winston Gambro, a Chicago-based comic creator known for works like Rex Radley and Overflow. Winston joined us to discuss his latest mini-series, Haunted House: A Love Story. This is not your typical horror story; it's a narrative told from the house's perspective, which gains sentience and experiences complex emotions like love and fear. Winston's unique storytelling approach and Victorian-inspired art style make this a must-read for anyone interested in a fresh take on the horror genre.

Each episode offered a wealth of knowledge and inspiration, making it a week to remember on Storycomic Presents. Whether you're an aspiring creator or a fan of compelling stories, there's something for everyone. Tune in now to catch these fascinating conversations!

 'Dadder Jokes' Progress and Timeline

I'm thrilled to share some exciting updates about the 'Dadder Jokes' project. The second proof of the book is en route and should arrive within the next two days. I've made some additional tweaks to ensure that the quality is top-notch because you all deserve nothing but the best.

Assuming this proof passes muster, the following steps will involve ordering more books and finalizing the variant covers. I'm committed to delivering a product you'll be proud to have supported, and I can't wait for you to see the final version.

Now, for some extra good news: 'Dadder Jokes' will be available for retail purchase starting in November. But here's why you, as Kickstarter backers, are the real winners: You will receive your copies ahead of the general public and lock in a lower price by backing this project early. So, congratulations on making a smart move and getting in on this deal before it hits the retail shelves!

Your support has been instrumental in bringing this project to life, and I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and trust in this endeavor. I'm working diligently to ensure we stay well within our November delivery window, and I'm incredibly excited for you to enjoy all the laughs that 'Dadder Jokes' has to offer.

"A Stellar Adventure: Review of 'Catstronauts: Mission Moon'"

Drew Brockington's "Catstronauts: Mission Moon" is a delightful blend of adventure and education, set in a world where cats are the planet's last hope. Faced with a global energy crisis, a team of feline astronauts—Major Meowser, Waffles, Blanket, and Pom Pom—are sent to the moon to set up a solar power plant. Each character is distinct and charming, making rooting for this eclectic team easy.

What sets this book apart is its educational undertone. It introduces STEM concepts like energy and space travel in an engaging yet informative way. As someone who appreciates science and is a cat lover, this book hits all the right notes. The cats are not overly humanized; they maintain their feline quirks, making them relatable and genuine to their species. Brockington's choice of names for his characters adds a layer of clever humor to the story.

The artwork is another highlight. Brockington's vibrant illustrations are visually appealing and complement the narrative well, adding depth to the characters and settings.

“Catstronauts: Mission Moon" offers a perfect mix of entertainment and education. It's a must-read for anyone interested in STEM topics, adventure stories, or cats. The book succeeds in making science accessible and fun, all while delivering a captivating story. Highly recommended for readers looking for an engaging and enlightening tale.

My First Week at WYKR Radio Station Feels Like Months

I'm thrilled to share updates on my first full week at WYKR radio station. It's been a whirlwind of learning, building, and community engagement, and I couldn't be more excited about the journey ahead.

Interestingly, after spending several months eagerly waiting to buy the radio station and start working here, it's surreal to realize that I'm finally in the thick of it. Even more surprising is that it already feels like I've been here for months. The transition has been so natural that it's hard to believe it's only been a week.

Firstly, I've given our website a complete overhaul. I invite you to check it out and explore the new features at WYKR's website. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated as we continue to improve and expand our online presence.

Speaking of online matters, I had a challenging but educational experience with MX Records this week. For those unfamiliar, MX records are essential for email services, and let's say we had a bit of a hiccup. We were without emails for about 24 hours, but I'm happy to report that the issue has been resolved. It was a hard lesson learned, but an important one as we move forward.

In more uplifting news, our brand-new sign went up, and it's already making waves in the community. We were even featured on the front page of the local newspaper! The support we've received from the community has been overwhelming and heartwarming.

Lastly, we're in the early stages of figuring out how to stream the radio station online. This exciting development will allow us to reach a broader audience and offer more interactive experiences for our listeners.
