Podcast Updates

Back at it again for 2023.  I had a couple of powerful and engaging interviews with local Vermont authors.  On Tuesday, the award-winning and internationally celebrated author Stephan Kiernan came on the show.  We chatted about his work style, the importance of perseverance in writing, and some tips on telling a solid and engaging story in a historical setting.

On Thursday, the acclaimed Author Jane Dwinell was here to talk about her inspiring and timely book:  ‘Alzheimer’s Canyon.’  It is a riveting memoir where the reader follows a journey that balances pain, loss, and confusion with gratitude, wonder, and transformation.

Project Updates

I worked a bit more on producing retro-themed World of Warcraft postcards.  I did get my test print poster of a Thunder Bluff postcard I designed, and it looks pretty good.  I first wanted to be sure the printing quality was good enough before I put more images available for posters.

I also am teaching myself how to upload them all as digital files to sell.

What I’m reading

I rediscovered another book from my childhood.  ‘In A Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories’ came out in 1984 and had some classically frightening stories for children. The late Dirk Zimmer’s artwork gave me great nostalgia. The illustrations provided an outstanding balance of horror and innocent accessibility so that my 8-year-old self was haunted by the images but not terrified by them.

“The Green Ribbon” was a story that I always remembered and was the catalyst for me to track down the book so that I could have a copy of it for my own.

Personal Updates

I spent the bulk of the week adding more Lego sets to my eBay store, and now the most listings I have had so far that was 176 items.  Still far less than someone that would do this full-time, it is an excellent hobby to sell some things I am no longer interested in having around the house.

It surprises many, but I have never watched ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation.’ Over the last several weeks, I have been attempting to watch the entire series and finally cracked into the final season. I am hoping to finish it soon.

After I finish it, I wonder which series I need to watch next.  Voyager or Deep Space Nine?

I’ve been playing way to much of this game lately…
