Episode 166 brought back with us the highly acclaimed and talented British comics creator, Markus Pattern. He talked with us about issue 2 of his 13 Shots of Whisky series, "Burnt Ends", a neo-noir detective Comic.

Finally, in Episode 167 I was honored to have with us the internationally respected and award-winning Vermont Author, Laura C. Stevenson.  She came to chat about her latest mystery novel, ‘All Men Glad and Wise’

Project Updates

A significant part of my week was doing day job work and decompressing afterward by playing some World of Warcraft.  With the fact that I will be on vacation next week, I am looking forward to getting some substantial headway on some Works in Progress.

What I’m reading

This past week I finally finished reading ‘Covid Chronicles’ comic anthology from Graphic Mundi.  This is a whopping 270+ page book with 65 individual stories.  This book serves both as a therapy for all of us who lived (and are living) through COVID and serves as a time capsule.  Although the book was published less than 2 years ago, it is also good to see how far we have come with the science and understanding of COVID.

The book has stories both of hope and tragedy as each artist and writer tells their own story of COVID during lockdowns, connecting with loved ones, or helping to navigate a COVID world.

Reading this allowed me to relive some of my own memories during the early part of the pandemic, and it also gave me the opportunity to discover new artists and illustrators as well.

Personal Updates

This was our first hot weather week so far.  We had a run of 3 days straight in the high 80’s and the plants really started to pop out this week.  I am debating whether to mow the lawn this month.  I discovered the concept of ‘No Mow May’ where a person does not mow their lawn for the entire month of May.  The reasoning behind it is that it allows those springtime wildflowers to grow to help out our precious pollinators.  I like to help support our local ecosystem; especially if it means I can hold off on doing my outside chores!
