Podcast Updates

I was very excited to sit down and talk with the internationally acclaimed host of ‘Two Geeks Talking’, Kurt Sasso!  We had so much chatting about the art of the interview and he had some great advice for creatives on how to utilize social media along with tips on podcasting.

Project Updates

This past week I was excited to finally get my Dad Joke book published via KDP publishing.  Right now it is only available via Kindle, but by next week it should have the physical copy available.  I am also going to publish it via Ingram Spark so it can be available in other locations.  Book stores do not carry books that are published via Amazon, that is why it is also good to get books published through Ingram Spark.

Now with that book pretty much finished, I am starting to work on my African Proverbs book.

What I’m reading

I backed Stephanie Nina Pitsirilos’ Kickstarter a couple of months ago, ‘Zine100: How Not to Be Colonized By Outreach Programs’.  It was a fun and educational mini-zine that was handmade by Stephanie.  Her passion and experience in community-based health advocacy are apparent and appreciated in the booklet.  She tackles a challenging subject that is also not widely known with an approachable and accessible narrative and art style.

I highly recommend checking out Stephanie’s writings to see more compassionate and creative work.

Personal Updates

I stop counting the daylight near the end of March since this is the time of year when we end up getting more daylight than darkness according to the clock.  As of this writing, we have 3 hours and 37 extra minutes of daylight compared to our darkest day of the year, December 21st.

As the weight loss journey continues, I tapped into 186 pounds earlier in the week but slipped back to 188 pounds as of this writing.  A couple of reasons why.  The first one was off-handed feedback that I looked ‘too thin’ or ‘not healthy’; logically I know this is not true and it is based on the comparison of when I weighed 230 pounds, so a 50-pound weight loss in anyone would be a significant change.  It did have an effect on me to enjoy some pizza and ice cream this week.  It also (albeit temporarily) makes me also feel disheartened to hear the negative feedback.

I am looking forward to getting back into moving towards my ultimate goal of getting to 174 pounds.

It’s that time of year to order tree saplings!
