Podcast Updates

This week I had two really fun interviews with some highly talented creators.  This past Tuesday I was excited to have back with us the highly gifted and internationally acclaimed freelance artist and comic creator, Jason Lenox!

He was here to chat about the latest installment of his widely read and acclaimed comic books series, ‘Lords of the Cosmos’!

He also had some fantastic advice for those looking to get into crowdfunding campaigns.

This past Thursday I recorded Episode 228 and was excited to have the award-winning and internationally acclaimed Journalist and Pop Culture Historian Martin Gitlin with us!

It was really fun to learn more about what it takes to write assigned books for schools and colleges and how to balance what it takes to write books one is passionate about and books that help pay the bills.

Project Updates

I have been making some significant progress this past week on ‘Appliance’.  I am writing up more special abilities for the player archetypes, calling them ‘Attachments’.  I am now at 126 pages and hitting 33,000 words so far.

What I’m reading

This week I read another one of my local library discoveries.  ‘Mighty Jack’ Volume 1 from Ben Hatke was a modern YA loose retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk.  This was my first foray into Ben Hatke’s work, and I enjoyed his art and storytelling.  It is full of detail and creativity.

‘Mighty Jack’ follows the story of a brother and sister who plants seeds in their backyard and the vegetation that grows is both fantastical and dangerous.

What I appreciated about this book, as I have daughters and work as a disability advocate in my day job is how Ben naturally includes into the story strong female characters and normalizes the inclusion of folks living with disabilities.

I am looking forward to reading the next installment of the series now.

Personal Updates

This was the first time since I started playing World of Warcraft back in 2006 that I did not jump right into a new expansion release.  Dragonflight came out this past Tuesday, but I only logged in for about 30 minutes of play on it. The reason behind it is probably that I’ve been delightfully distracted by lego related projects and working on my own game designs.

It still has been a struggle trying to negotiate my time with watching my 2-year-old son and keeping up with the day job.  This has meant more late nights of answering emails.

Gratuitous seasonal picture. The 2-year-old is still a bit grabby with the decorations.
