Podcast Updates

This past week was a full week of interviews.  Most of this was catch-up interviews from while I was sick with COVID. I had a whopping 5 interviews this past week.

On Sunday, the founder of Omen Comics and the creator of the Omenverse, Michael Nunneley came on the show to talk about his expansive story universe he has been working on for years.

On Tuesday, Fantasy Author David Trotter came back on the show and talked with us about his latest book, Azure Tides: Holiday Release

A fast pace, pirate-themed, sword-and-sorcery book that follows three young crew members on a mysterious voyage into the unknown.

On Thursday I helped out my friend, Jeff Haas with his podcast, Traversing the Stars, and was his guest host for an interview with the TV star, Susan Diol.  I will be happy to share with you all a link to the interview once it is published.

Later on Thursday, excited to have on the show, the internationally acclaimed and award-winning writer and game designer, and owner of Signal Fire Studios, Jamie Chambers.  I have enjoyed his work for a long time and was very happy to chat with him.

On Friday, I had a makeup interview with Brandon Ingram.  He is the highly talented comic creator of Dismay Comics.  He writes some amazing horror comics and I really enjoyed our conversation.  He had some great tips and advice on how to find artists and how to write compelling stories.

Project Updates

I plugged away more on my ‘Appliance’ draft and am at 113 pages.  I mostly concentrated on grammar and editing. I was also able to work on writing about how sentient objects interact with vehicles.  Here is a sample of what I wrote for that:

Vehicles

Transportation vehicles, whether they be sedans, trucks, planes, or trains live in a much different world than other sentients.   Originally transportation was a part of the Fabrica Family, but as transportation evolved from carts to more complex technologies, vehicles became culturally distinct from other tools.

As the most active and mobile of sentients, they have the distinct ability to move around under human eyes without drawing suspicion.  Unknown to most humans, roughly a third of all vehicles moving at any given time are cars and trucks moving of their own volition.  The evolution of driverless vehicles will give vehicles more overt methods of moving around.

As Allies

Cars and other personal transportation vehicles (i.e. bicycles, scooters, pick up trucks) are small enough where they can have individual relationships with specific objects. Vehicles, by nature, are helpful but anxious group. They take no offense at one sided relationships with others.  They will be happy to assist and expect no favors in return.  This makes them great friends if you can connect with them, and when an object aids a vehicle in distress, they have a friend for life.

As Antagonists

Although vehicles pride themselves on their lives of service and their ability to help others, they do not appreciate it at all when they are taken advantage of or belittled, or unappreciated.  When objects do not provide deference or regard, a vehicle will take notice.  Although it is hard to have a car be an outright enemy, a vehicle will easily choose to make an object’s life a bit more complicated.

 What I’m reading

I have been enjoying reading some of the comics that I bought through doing Proxibid.  One of them is the old New Universe series ‘Kickers Inc’. Jim Shooter created the line of in celebration of Marvel Comics’ 25th anniversary.

This has the classic 1980’s comic book feel and I can appreciate the reason why Jim Shooter created this new line of comics, to give writers creative control over a brand new group of characters to work from, but unfortunately, the entire line was short-lived.

Personal Updates

This past week I began to work again to post some Lego sets to sell on eBay along with some other things that I got from a Proxibid order.

Now that our household made it through the other side of a little COVID we have been feeling much more comfortable in venturing out and enjoying ourselves.  This morning I had a daddy/daughters breakfast at our favorite morning diner spot at Debs Place.  I had the veggie egg white omelet and the girls had chocolate frosted sprinkle doughnuts.

First Morning Restaurant excursion since COVID!

Darn kid got a hold of my phone!
