Podcast Updates
This past week I was fortunate to have the internationally known and award-winning children’s book author, Josh Funk on the show.
I have been a fan of his books since my oldest daughter brought home one of his books a few years ago. I had such a great time chatting with him about his writing style and methods along with some future projects he is working on.
We also chatted about how complicated writing picture books can be and had some incredibly valuable advice for new authors and seasoned authors as well.
Project Updates
I have been working on more ‘Appliance and am now at around 111 pages so far.
This past week I have been drafting up more information on the sentient objects that have been ostracized by their families and are now considered what in the game world we call ‘Refuse’. The word has two meanings. It can mean trash or also mean something denied.
Originally, I called this category of objects, ‘Vagrants’ but that title seemed to not fit as well.
The Refuse are also enlisted by other objects and families to perform more clandestine jobs that other more reputable families would not want to do.
What I’m reading
This past week I read Brandon Ingram’s Dismay Avenue Issue one. It was the season to read some creepy horror-themed comic. The unsettling story is about a couple going to a movie theater and David Lynchian's unsettled horrors begin to take place.
As a reader, I knew I was reading a horror comic, but my logical brain was trying to make sense of what was happening and was hoping that I would get some answers at the end of the story, but frankly, I am glad I did not. It made the story’s horror last longer in my mind.
If you like horror, this is a good anthology series.
Personal Updates
I am pretty much all over the COVID. I am grateful that I had very mild symptoms and did not lose too much of a rhythm from work and personal chores and duties.
I did, however, work from home for the bulk of the week and took Friday as an errand day. Also Friday I was greeting by 4 big boxes that were delivered from my online bidding foray.I am now a bit overwhelmed with things that I need to post on eBay, but at least I will not be bored with side projects
