Storycomic Weekly Newsletter: January 15th
ALWAYS POSTED A WEEK EARLIER ON PATREON
Podcast Updates
We are back from our little winter break and had our 130th episode of ‘Storycomic Presents.’ We were excited to have with us the internationally acclaimed, talented actor and professional cosplayer, Mandy Pursley.
I had such a great time learning more about the art of costume design and the creation of such intricate and varied work.
Project Updates
This past week I worked more on my dad jokes book. I made a chapter page background image. I am thinking of separating out the book into chapters titled with a different groan and eye rolls exclamations like “ugh”, “mhmm”, “oh geez”, and “..ha”.
I also started sketching a bit on my Christmas-themed children’s book on Procreate.
What I’m reading
This past week I read Erica Shultz’s graphic novel, “The Deadliest Bouquet”. She was on the show last year chatting about it and I was very excited to back it on Kickstarter and have it arrive a little bit ago.
Erica does such a great job developing the personalities of the three sisters in the book, allowing them all to have their own distinct and relatable journeys and emotional story arcs.
As a reader, Erica made the reader feel as if they were in the room watching these intimate and exciting conversations take place.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good 90’s era murder mystery.
Personal Updates
As someone who enjoys tracking progress, I am in the time of year where I like to track daylight gained compared to the shortest day of the year on December 21st. As of today, where I live in Vermont, we have 12 extra minutes of daylight!
From the news on eating healthy, I have finally broken past the 193-pound plateau and have made it to 192 pounds; making it 31 pounds I have lost since July.
I am so excited about this and very much ready to see how long it takes me to get to my 174-pound goal.
