Storycomic Weekly Newsletter: August 21st
ALWAYS POSTED A WEEK EARLIER ON PATREON
Podcast Updates
This was a fun week with a couple of interviews. It seems like it was a horror-themed week of conversations.
On Tuesday, We had with us the internationally known and award-winning horror writer and director, Michael Moutsatsos! Then on Thursday, we were excited to have with us the creative team behind the GM-less collaborative horror roleplaying game, Deimos Academy, Austin Knight, Banana Chan, and Amanda Kahl!
Project Updates
This week was slow with specific projects, but I moved forward a bit on registering Storycomic as an LLC.
What I’m reading
This past week was more reading bedtime stories. A couple of years ago I was lucky to find the entire Sweet Pickles series by Ruth Lerner Perle and Jacquelyn Reinach. They were originally released in the late 70s with Weekly Reader.
I remember back in the early 80s that in order to get all 26 of these books, one had to subscribe in order to receive them all. It is so nostalgic to read these again with my own kids. I never got the whole series, so reading each character’s book has been entertaining.
I have discovered that part of the drawing style I developed as a child was directly influenced by these books. For instance, to this day, I still draw water pipes the way Richard Hefter drew them.
Personal Updates
This past week I packed up more comic books to send out to the CGC for grading and pressing. I also ended up answering more Facebook marketplace postings for used bulk Legos. Although I do love the adventure and mystery in discovering the old Lego sets that are in these lots. But let me hope I do not buy any more Lego lots until I organize what I have first.
